It was nice to get away from Jersey and visit Long Island for a change of pace to fish with one of my good buddy's Adam Myles on the Offshore Obsession. Left Shinnecock inlet at midnight and headed to the hudson for a day troll for the early bite that only produced one long fin at first light at the square. In the distance as we trolled East we saw many whales and 1000's of dolphins that had absolutely no fish underneath them.So after a very grim 6 hours of not a bite since the morning, we decided to give the flats a chance inside of the East Elbow. Ten minutes upon arriving we got our first long fin on a sterling purple spreader with a green machine trailer. Then we starting picking away at the yellowfin and long fin together on every pass. We even had a mako following the long fin right next to the boat. Most of the fish came on Sterling green and purple bars. And the bigger yellowfin came on a blue/white Joe shute with a select ballyhoo. Ended up with 2 yellows up to 58 lbs and 4 long fin.Great trip, good crew, and a lot of laughs.
